Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder is characterized by perfectionism and inflexibility. A person with an Obsessive-Compulsive Personality becomes preoccupied with uncontrollable patterns of thought and action. It is an anxiety disorder. Symptoms may cause extreme distress and interfere with a person’s occupational and social functioning. There are obsessional thoughts, impulses, and images. For example- Do I have Cancer? or Washing hand several times without any reason or many other uncontrollable patterns and action. There are five broad categories of Obsessive Compulsive thoughts.  dirt & contamination, aggression, orderliness of objects, sex and religion. Obsessive thoughts have three main themes- aggressive, sexual and blasphemous. Compulsions fall into three major categories- cleaning, checking and counting. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is characterized by uncontrollable intrusive thoughts and action that can be alleviated by patterns of rigid and ceremonial behavior. Cut sugar and sugar products, and refine carbohydrates from the diet, it may help control Obsessive Compulsive thoughts about 15- 20%.
