RURAL SINDH`S SHARE IN STATE BANK?

by Dr Ali Akbar Dhakan, Karachi, Sindh

Out of the total strength of high grade jobs in State Bank of Pakistan including Governor, two Deputy Governors, Advisers, consultants, Executive Directors and Directors, the representation of Sindh Rural is NIL.In all, the total number of these posts is more than l000 and the total number of the posts starting from joint Directors to lower staff would exceed ten thousand amongst whom the representation of Rural Sindh will not be more than one hundred through out Pakistan having about 20 offices of State Bank of Pakistan across the country. Now, to whom we may blame, the Government or the management of the SBP who are responsible for such a negligence in victimizing or robbing the people of Sindh.

It has commonly been propagated that the Government of PPP recruits more people from Rural Sindh where as it is not true that elected leaders or ministers of PPP or the Ruling class have forgotten their duties to re-compensate the People of Rural Sindh and get them out from the mishap or ill-fate of poverty in these days of price hike and save them from committing suicides and other social crimes. Will the Finance Minister, Government of Pakistan Dr. Hafeez Shaikh and even the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari the co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, take notice of this situation about State Bank of Pakistan and also about private as well as foreign banks and more than half a million Private Companies located only in Karachi and order for getting the highly educated and experienced people of Rural Sindh appointed in various jobs in these banks and companies. It is sorry to note that at present, even no one has been taken on the Board of Directors of State Bank of Pakistan as a Director or member of the board from the rural Sindh. If during the PPP Government the people of Rural Sindh are not getting their constitutional rights, no other Government can be generous to oblige and sympathize them. The result will be deprivation and ill fate for ever victimized people of Pakistan.
