Once again, Muslims around the world have “sacrificed” millions of animals in a three day period during the month of Eid-ul-Adha to please God.
Sacrifice inherently means that you part with something that is very close to your heart and experience a certain degree of pain during the process.
Abraham proceeded to sacrifice his son who was very close to his heart and with whom had great attachment.
This act of Abraham can be seen as a spirit of true sacrifice.
Today, if I say that I sacrificed an old sofa for a greater cause, I will be laughed at, since the sofa doesn’t mean much to me. However, this hypothetical act of mine is not much different from someone slitting the throat of a goat to please God and call it a sacrifice, since the person has had no attachment to the goat except a few bucks that he would soon forget.
I am just wondering if that is what God had in his mind when he asked us to follow a path in remembrance of Abraham’s devotion to God. Today what we do on the streets of Karachi during the Eid-ul Adha is a mockery of Abraham’s devotion to God.
It is beyond my comprehension that our God, whom we regard as compassionate and merciful finds pleasure watching a helpless camel with one of his front legs tied off the ground and two of his hind legs so closely tied together that he becomes incapable of using those legs independently. And apart from that, his jaws are tied with a rope that he cannot even brawl. And then, a pious looking person sticks a knife into the camel’s throat. The camel bleeds for tens of minutes and suffers excruciating pain until he dies.

Nazia,I agree to your statement.
There is no shameless thinking behind ceasing the concept of excessive butchering of animals specially on eid days.Pakistanis make so much mess on three days of Eid azzah that is hardly seen in any other Muslim countries. We dont follow the principle of cleanliness and sacrifice so we don’t deserve such kind of showoff for filling our freezers. .There should be some standard set for butchering on eid days and trained adults should do it in particular confined areas.it is not an amusing game for kids and street people to enjoy killing of animals on street shows.
Why as a Muslim we cant pick decent neat and organized way of living for following our rituals. This eid as we celebrate in Paksitan we observe worst kind of unhygienic meat, filthiness of waste of animals and open scene of butchering as amusing event to eat meat and all parts of sacrificial animals.
No other passion of sacrifice our loving and deary things in front of GOD has ever witnessed in such kind of festival.
What a shameless thinking against religious belief of others,Allah creation of plants, animals and other things are for use of humans, if we dont cut tree and eat fruits and we dont slaughter chickens and goats and dont cut crops than all humans will go into graves, you dont have any right to object on use of things which Allah has created for welfare of humanity,In Pakistan millions of animals are sacrificed but the facts is that these animals are grown just for this purpose therefore the population of animals per capita in Pakistan is greater than many other countries of the world, infact this sacrifice is the main reason for life of millions of animals.
In medressah culture 6 to 7 year old boy is trained to slaughter animals like that and all other enjoy the death pains of animals as more blood is poured on soil Allah would effectively accept our sacrifice.
On the same theme we trained talibans who become sadist after becoming adult butcher.More cold hearted one was picked to behead the soldiers of Pakistan or who stood against them.
Swat kids have witnessed these horrific scene of human butchering in same way.
So what else we require more to judge our butchery caliber as muslims.
