Lawyers demand arrest of Tahir Plaza incident culprits

KARACHI: The lawyers of the city boycotted subordinate courts on Friday on the call of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) in memory of their colleagues, who were killed in the Tahir Plaza fire incident on April 9, 2008.

The general body of the KBA and Malir Bar Association (MBA) also demanded the government to ensure that the culprits responsible for the Tahir Plaza tragedy were arrested as soon as possible. In a meeting of the KBA general body, the association’s president Sallahudin Ahmad presented a resolution demanding the arrest of the people responsible for incident. The participants of the meeting also chanted slogans against the culprits. Meanwhile, a general body meeting of the MBA was held that was addressed by the association’s president Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, General Secretary Abdul Razaque Solangi and others. staff report
