Restore equity and fairness for Sindh

Pakistan Academy of Sciences – Where are all the Sindhis Gone?

by: Khalid Hashmani, McLean, Virginia, USA

My experience with the Pakistani statistics is that the probability of finding Sindhis in proportion to their population in any federal department, institution, or agency is almost zero.

However, from time to time, Pakistani “establishment” does appoint/facilitate Sindhis in unique positions such as President, Prime Minister, Speaker, etc. so that they can continue the charade that Sindhis enjoy equal opportunities and are well-represented in jobs, educational opportunities, and receive at par health and other services.

Some Sindhis are really naive and think that the root cause of this discrimination is that Sindhis in top positions such as Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, etc. are to be blamed for this sorry state of affairs. The fact is that only Z. A. Bhutto was able to partially succeed in creating a level playing field for Sindhis and after his judicial murder the Pakistani exploitation system is so much entrenched that not even ten Sindhis in top ten positions could bring any meaningful change to restore equity and fairness.

[Wondering if there is any Sindhi involed in this academy of sciences? –Azhar]
