The World Sindhi Institute Board of Directors undergoes restructuring

WSI- Press Release

President and Members, Board of Directors of The World Sindhi Institute (WSI), convened a meeting on 28th June 2008. After discussing a full agenda, the resignations of Mr. Munawar  Laghari (Executive Director) and Mr. Maqbool Aliani (General Secretary) which had been tabled in March ’08 at the 11th anniversary of the World Sindhi Institute, and pending since then, were finally accepted by the Board, albeit with regret.

Mr. Munawar Laghari’s hard work, dedication and profound contributions to the organization for the last 11 years were appreciated deeply by all. His commitment to the cause of Sindh and the struggle for rights of Sindhis has been exemplary and the Board wishes him a peaceful transition to a new phase in his life.

Mr. Maqbool Aliani has served the World Sindhi Institute since 2000. During this time his contributions and clarity of vision have given WSI strategic direction and has also created important bridges between the Sindhi and Baloch communities in North America.  The WSI Board wish him the very best and hope he will continue in an advisory capacity.

The Board also welcomed new members: Ms. (Dr.) Fauzia Deeba and Ms. Ayesha Babar, who have already served the Institute as volunteer staff members. Ms Ayesha Babar was WSI’s very first office manager from 2000-2003. More recently, Dr. Fauzia Deeba performed the same functions from 2006-2007. The President and Board welcome the new members and look forward to their active participation
