Today’s Washington Post contains a very interesting analysis of the current and future tussles between PPP, PML-N, and Pakistan military and some scenarios in Pakistan now that General Musharraf is no longer in the political picture of Pakistan. The author’s comments about Nawaz Sharif that that he is “Busy pandering to his right-wing supporters” and that “Sharif believes that his popularity and the parliamentary seats he controls in the majority province of Punjab will eventually regain him the prime minister ship. ” should alarm progressive Pakistanis and those who wish to see de-centralization in Pakistan and a new structure of checks and balance that would guarantee equal seats for each province in Pakistan’s Senate.

Many around me protested saying that his last words were unbecoming of anyone who held such a high office in the nation.
