INFO ABOUT CHOLESTROL

Cholesterol is a type of fat made in the liver and found in animal foods. CHOLESTEROL IS NEEDED FOR IMPORTANT BODY FUNCTIONS. Such as; Building cell walls, Protecting nerves, Making hormones. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF CHOLESTEROL : THE GOOD. (HDL), THE BAD (LDL)

A higher level of HDL is needed to carry LDL from the BLOOD back to the LIVER to be ELIMINATED from the body. If there is a higher level of LDL cholesterol in the BLOOD it may cause: high blood pressure!, Raise risk of heart attack! Raise your risk of stroke! and the kidneys problems!

The main danger of high blood cholesterol (LDL, low density lipid) is that fatty plaques may form which will decrease the diameter of blood vessels. This leads to a restriction of the flow of blood and oxygen to the tissues of the body.

- If an artery supplying blood to the HEART becomes blocked you may have a heart attack!

- If an artery supplying blood to the BRAIN becomes blocked you may have a Stroke!

- If an artery supplying blood to the kidney becomes blocked you may suffer kidney failure.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO LOWER YOUR CHOLESTEROL?

Eat less, avoid fried fast foods, avoid saturated fats, Avoid carbohydrates, sugar, cookies, cakes, pastries and candies.

Do exercise (Walking is good), avoid smoking, drink 8 to 12 crystal clear fresh glasses of water every day. Take multi-vitamins.

STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT IF AN AVERAGE PERSON CAN REDUCE HIS/ HER BLOOD CHOLESTEROL (LDL) BY ONLY 10% HE/ SHE CAN REDUCE HIS RISK OF HEART ATTACK BY UP TO 50%!!

Subsequent investigation by Scotland Yard of Imran Farooq murder case and the U-turn of MQM’s Altaf Hussain

Who is after Altaf’s blood? – AZIZ-UD-DIN AHMAD

ARTICLE (September 29, 2010) : Suddenly and quite unexpectedly, MQM chief Altaf Hussain has added ‘international powers’ to the list of his mortal enemies who, according to him, are conspiring to kill him and destroy his party. In an open letter to his party workers, he told them that ‘international powers’ could eliminate him anytime and they should be mentally prepared for such an eventuality.

During the last three decades the PPP, PML-N, generals and feudal lords have appeared and disappeared from the list of enemies prepared by Altaf in accordance with the needs of the hour and dictated by the type of alliance he had decided to enter into. But the list never mentioned the newly discovered predator called “international powers,” lurching in the shadows and ready to pounce upon the MQM and its leader for the kill. On the contrary, the MQM has assiduously tried to cultivate good relations with the US, Britain and other European Union countries.

This explains the readiness displayed by Britain to provide him asylum along with a number of party activists. Altaf then sought British citizenship, which was given to him on the grounds that the government in Pakistan, then led by the PPP, wanted to eliminate him. British government subsequently refused to extradite him when the request came from Nasirullah Babar, interior minister at the time.

Not that the US or its Western allies have never targeted parties and individuals, they feared could harm their material interests in Asia, Africa and Latin America, nor have they called off attacks of the sort now. The US has a resourceful CIA at its disposal, specialising in ways and means to dispose of those considered to be enemies by Washington.

In Afghanistan, it continues to use the special operations forces for assassinating insurgent leaders. In the past also, Western powers have resorted to tactics like assassination as in the case of Lumumba, military coups as in the case of Iran, Indonesia, and Chile and employed mercenaries to bring down perceived political enemies as in the case of Nicaragua. The choice of the targets was, however, made strictly in the light of the strategic requirements of the US at the times.

The US, being ruled by the most efficient capitalist class in the world, had ensured that there was to be no wastage of energy or resources. Most single-mindedly the US strategy focused on eliminating communism and Moscow’s influence in various parts of the world. Those who were targeted were known all over the world for their ideological leanings. In many cases, they were people whose appeal transcended their countries, regions and continents. In the process, the US allied with and protected all reactionary groups, including warlords, military dictators, and religious extremists – in short all decadent forces that could help in the execution of the job.

After the end of the Cold War and the emergence of the US as the sole super power, the old strategy was thoroughly revamped because old enemies had weakened and were no more an urgent threat. With the decline of communism, parties and leaders with radical political slogans had lost momentum and ceased to pose a challenge to the free market system, which helped by the force of globalization, was breaking down protective barriers created by countries to spread to the farthest corners of the globe. There was, however, another threat that needed total concentration, the threat posed by the extremist organisations targeting the US, though in an altogether different but highly lethal way.

With radical Islamic forces let loose the US and its allies now diverted attention to the struggle against terrorism, which was to define the new US strategy, particularly after 9/11. As Russia and China too faced the threat, they were, in fact, helpful in dealing with the common enemy.

International powers, he says, could eliminate him any time and that the MQM workers should be mentally prepared for such an eventuality. He says he had issued a call to fight against the generals, feudal lords and chieftains who had assumed power ‘through unfair means’. According to him, these anti-people elements benefited from the outdated system prevalent in Pakistan, while “international powers” also use it to their advantage. “International powers used Pakistani establishment, which includes the army, ISI and other powerful agencies to eliminate the MQM. When these powers failed to achieve their objective through conspiracies and barbarity and by slaying thousands of MQM workers, international powers are now trying eliminate Altaf Hussain”. When Altaf talks about the concerns of a bygone era, he seems to be out of synch with the times.

The emergence of the MQM was not on the basis of a radical programme, aimed at rallying the people of Pakistan for the overthrow of the feudal system, warlords and military rule. The party was expressly created to address what it considered the grievances of the Mohajirs in Pakistan. Well, there is nothing wrong about that. If one can form trade unions, lawyers associations, peasant committees and consumer societies, one can also have a party to safeguard the interests of an ethnic group.

The transformation of the MQM from an ethnic party to as organisation embracing all provinces and nationalities was slow, though it was widely welcomed. What did not change during the process, however, was its style of work. Instead of following a programme that conceived big landlordism, tribal system or military rule as its immediate targets, the party preferred to bargain for power with the PPP, PML-N and PML-Q that it blamed for supporting the outmoded system while it also joined hands with military ruler Musharraf without any moral compunction in return for important ministries Interestingly, the party programme even now visualises no modern socio-economic system, not even remedial provisions like land reforms based on a defined ceiling on land.

As far as the fight against religious extremism and terrorism is concerned, which is the principle criterion for determining allies and enemies in the eyes of the US, the MQM totally and unreservedly supported the programme and offered its services to counter the common enemy. The party not only staged public demonstrations against al Qaeda and its allies but also showed willingness to cleanse Karachi and urban Sindh of the menace. This explains why no Western country has ever profiled the party or its members. In matters relating to the issue of visas, they have been treated on merit.

Eyebrows are being raised in Britain now as evidence regarding Imran Farooq’s murder is gathered. The Guardian, quoting sources within Scotland Yard, reported on Sunday that the agency’s investigation into the murder in London of Imran Farooq has revealed that “rows within MQM may have led to his assassination.” According to the Guardian report, Imran was ‘about to endorse or join the new party being announced by Pervez Musharraf. If the lead turns out to be valid, finger is likely to be pointed at those inside the party who could have reason to oppose the defection. The murder is being investigated by Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism branch because of the political dimension to the killing.

It would, however, be premature yet to pinpoint those behind the murder. What has led Altaf to presume that the investigation is aimed at targeting him, therefore, remains to be explained. He said he did not have strength to withstand the might of the powers that are out to get him and, therefore, party workers should be mentally prepared for any eventuality because “these powers can eliminate Altaf Hussain anytime.”

It is easy for any political party in Pakistan to accuse its opponents of any crime taking place in the country and get away with it because of the absence of a neutral and efficient investigation machinery in the country. In Britain, however, Scotland Yard is considered a highly professional and respected organisation. Altaf’s statement indicates uneasiness. It would be liable to be interpreted by some as an attempt to prepare ground to ascribe motives to Scotland Yard in case the findings are not to his liking. …

Generals in Pakistan Push for Shake-Up of Government

By JANE PERLEZ

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The Pakistani military, angered by the inept handling of the country’s devastating floods and alarmed by a collapse of the economy, is pushing for a shake-up of the elected government, and in the longer term, even the removal of President Asif Ali Zardari and his top lieutenants.

The military, preoccupied by a war against militants and reluctant to assume direct responsibility for the economic crisis, has made clear it is not eager to take over the government, as it has many times before, military officials and politicians said.

But the government’s performance since the floods, which have left 20 million people homeless and the nation dependent on handouts from skeptical foreign donors, has laid bare the deep underlying tensions between military and civilian leaders. ….

The “Deep State” has landed in deep trouble for catastrophies!

The Deep State and technocrats – By Kamran Shafi

The Deep State itself wants to puncture the democratic balloon one more time and relegate rule by parliament to the backstage so that any advances made are brought to naught.

Anyone seen the list being circulated on the Internet containing the names of the ‘technocrats’ who are being touted as our newest saviours in the “national government” that is to take over after the present dispensation is kicked out? Makes your skin crawl, I’ll tell you.

Most of them have been in the various and varied engineered dictatorial/caretaker/lota so-called governments of which we’ve seen more than our fair share; governments that failed in every which way, made a bigger mess of things every single time that they “rescued” us, and after whose failure and subsequent departure the political leaders thrown out came back into the assemblies with larger majorities than they had when they were shown the door.

So why are these names making it to the lists being “prepared and finalised” when they were such abject failures in their earlier incarnations as ministers and advisers to dictators? It is not as if manna fell from heaven when they were ruling the roost, nor was there a chicken in every pot in the land. So, who are these people that pop up every now and again whenever the Deep State decides democracy has to take yet another setback? ….

MQM a political group or gang of terrorists – Daily Times

MQM a political group or gang of terrorists, asks intel report

* Fact sheet says party destructive instrument in Altaf Hussain’s hands

* Govt obligated to explain who turned Karachi into exclusive property

ISLAMABAD: Is the MQM a political group or a gang of terrorists, questions a joint investigation report prepared by intelligence and security agencies of the country into the targeted killings and lawlessness in Karachi.

The report framed by the ISI, Interior Ministry, IB, Sindh Police, Special Branch and Pakistan Rangers in May 2009 was formally presented to the Senate chairman on Tuesday by ANP Information Secretary Zahid Khan.

“Who are these deserting rats, what do they want, how do they treat places like Kashmir, Pakistan and Karachi, why do they kill, why do they promise to send dead bodies, whom do they serve by heightening linguistic feelings, why do they target transformers and leave people to roast in heat, why do they burn transport facilities, why do they target security personnel, why do they torture people and pump bullets into public servants,” questions the 64-page report.

“Why did their (MQM) bullets take lives of SHOs Bahadur Ali and Imdad Khatian, DSP Bashir Ahmed Noorani, five relatives of DSP Nisar Khawaja, DSP Tanoli, SDM Muhammad Nawaz Khushk, journalist Muhammad Salahuddin, Azim Ahmed Tariq, Zohair Akram Nadeem, Pir Pagaro’s son-in-law Salim Malik, KESC Chairman Malik Shahid Hamid? And how a renowned scholar, chairman of the Hamdard Foundation and ex-Sindh governor Hakim Muhammad Saeed was killed,” the report further asks.

“It is a destructive instrument in the hands of its highly whimsical supremo, the one and only Altaf Hussain,” says the fact sheet on the MQM.

Exclusive property: The report said the government was obligated to explain who had turned Karachi, its citizens, its hospitals, parks, roads and avenues, storage houses, police stations and assembly houses into exclusive property; who were the people who never started a single development project in Karachi but did every thing to destroy the Karachi Municipal Corporation by controlling it during 1987-92 and the provincial government during 1990-92.

The report also mentions terrorism in Karachi on “Hitler’s footsteps”, “anti-state and anti-media activities of the MQM”, “its Indian connection” and the economical damage due to the party’s forced strikes. “But all this will require a review of the thoughts propagated by Hitler 65 years ago and the resemblance that Altaf has with the Nazi leader,” it added.

“The party’s first major action against political rivals came in the Pakistan Steel Mills in 1990 when a number of its men were kidnapped. They were taken to torture cells in Landhi and Korangi. Since then torture and murder of army officers, navy functionaries and a whole range of other people has become a routine,” said the report.

It added that the government has repeatedly asked the MQM to close its training camps …

Pak-Afghan Border – Hot Pursuit, Boots on the Ground, and Drone Attacks

Pak-Afghan Border and Asymmetric Warfare – Hot Pursuit, Boots on the Ground, and Drone Attacks

…. An additional factor that complicates these tactics is the idiom that ‘all is fair in love and war’. In the age of Internet, people have come to believe the stated intents and positions of international players to be true. The real intent and policies of global players are the most highly guarded secrets and are not meant for public consumption. Publicly disclosing the nations real intent, strength and vulnerabilities would be tantamount to surrendering. Nonetheless, when the statements and actions of stakeholders repeatedly don’t match, it creates many conspiracy theories as well as mistrust amongst allies.

A column about Aafia Siddiqui

The Aafia mafia – by Fasi Zaka

Her ex-husband rubbishes many of her claims, and the family of Dr Aafia won’t let the media speak to her children who can shed light on what really happened ….

About a year ago, I wrote a column that got the ghairat brigade on my case. The gist of the column was that the trial in the US was based on a case of evidence, and lack of, that the US had full control over in the alleged attempt to shoot a US soldier by Dr Aafia Siddiqui. That she would get a fair trial was dubious, plus the case was opportunistic because the US took the easy way out and didn’t prosecute her for her alleged links to al Qaeda but instead for a shooting during a questioning. She was, after all wanted for links to terrorism initially. Then of course, one of the main problems is the US took a third party national from Afghanistan for a trial in their domestic courts.

The offending opinion which got the aforementioned ghairat specialists riled up, which I still subscribe to, is that from what we know Dr Aafia cannot be categorically described as innocent or guilty.

Before she went missing, before the alleged shooting, Dr Aafia was on the radar as an enabler of terrorism. A UN commission described her as a member of al Qaeda, Sheikh Khalid Mohammed gave her name to the US and court records show her as the second wife of an al Qaeda member. One of her uncle’s claims to have met her when she was supposedly in detention in Afghanistan by the US during her missing year’s period. Her ex-husband rubbishes many of her claims, and the family of Dr Aafia won’t let the media speak to her children who can shed light on what really happened. …

Are you ready for a ‘judicial murder’ of the PPP government?

“Judicial change”!

By Aziz Narejo

We have seen all kinds of weird politics and political ‘changes’ in Pakistan. We have seen serving PM’s murder; overthrow/ change of governments by first Governor General and then by the next GG; overthrow/ change of governments by presidents; overthrow/ change of governments by military generals; now are you ready for a ‘judicial change’ of the government?

We have even seen a ‘judicial murder’. If they can kill an elected PM, why can’t they just dispose off another elected PM? Pakistani Adliya zindabad!? …

The “independent” judiciary went after the judges who took oath under PCO in 2007 but they can’t go after the judges who took oath under PCO in 1999. They don’t like extensions of other government officials but extended services of chosen brother judges. They opened some cases settled under infamous NRO but can’t do so with thousands of criminal cases settled under same NRO because they don’t have the spine to take on the … MQM.

They can’t take up the Mehrangate scandal case, which is sitting on their desks right under their noses since so many years but they have declared ‘Jihad’ against a singled out culprit. May be they don’t like his teeth!

How about a suo motu action against the judges who legalized the Musharraf coup? That is a fit case of High Treason under Article 6?

Imran Farooq murder linked to rows within MQM

Pakistan: Imran Farooq murder linked to rows within MQM party

by Vikram Dodd, crime correspondent

The Scotland Yard investigation into the murder in London of the leading Pakistani politician Dr Imran Farooq has been told that rows within his own party may have led to his assassination.

Farooq, 50, was stabbed to death earlier this monthduring an attack in which he was also beaten near his home in Edgware, north London. Farooq was a senior figure in Pakistan’s MQM (Muttahida Quami Movement) party, and was in exile in London at the time of his death. The murder is being investigated by Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism branch because of the political dimension to the killing.

Sources say intelligence suggests his death was linked to rows within the MQM. ….

Washington D.C. – Last week, the Americans of Sindhi descend and their supporters went all out to create awareness about the plight of flood victims in Sindh (Pakistan) in Washington DC circles. There were several events in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (September 22) and Thursday (September 23) that focused on the devastation and destruction caused by recent floods upon the people of Sindh. The primary goal and objectives of these activities were to appeal to American people for their generous donations to flood relief effort and to draw their attention to the attempts by Pakistani establishment to unfairly distribute international assistance among flood-affected provinces at the expense of Sindhi flood victims.

Pakistani Journalist Speaks Out After an Attack – Eyes Turn to the Military

Pakistani Journalist Speaks Out After an Attack

By JANE PERLEZ

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — An investigative reporter for a major Pakistani newspaper was on his way home from dinner here on a recent night when men in black commando garb stopped his car, blindfolded him and drove him to a house on the outskirts of town.

There, he says, he was beaten and stripped naked. His head and eyebrows were shaved, and he was videotaped in humiliating positions by assailants who he and other journalists believe were affiliated with the country’s powerful spy agency.

At one point, while he lay face down on the floor with his hands cuffed behind him, his captors made clear why he had been singled out for punishment: for writing against the government. “If you can’t avoid rape,” one taunted him, “enjoy it.”

The reporter, Umar Cheema, 34, had written several articles for The News that were critical of the Pakistani Army in the months preceding the attack.

His ordeal was not uncommon for a journalist or politician who crossed the interests of the military and intelligence agencies, the centers of power even in the current era of civilian government, reporters and politicians said.

What makes his case different is that Mr. Cheema has spoken out about it, describing in graphic detail what happened in the early hours of Sept. 4, something rare in a country where victims who suspect that their brutal treatment was at the hands of government agents often choose, out of fear, to keep quiet. ….
